expat-agonia

On Saturday my Dad had his opening at the gallery in San Martín. The exhibition was comprised of photographs he had taken of his own work and of work that has inspired him during his travels. Another artist who specializes in silver also showed. In the middle of the opening, my Dad introduced me to an Argentine doctor who had lived in my home town for years before moving back to San Martin. He asked how old I was because his son had gone to the same high school as me. It just so happened that I was friends with his son, Alex, AND that he is visiting his father in San Martín right now. I had always known his father was Argentine, but I never would have imagined we would meet up here, of all places. Last night we went and saw his amazing house, which is set on the top of a mountain with gorgeous views of the lake.

there is always good food at art openings, but this one stood out with homemade empanadas served by the other artist's adorable kids

david, after trying Fernet Branca, one of the typical Argentine drinks. it tastes like a medicine that you would only take if you were dying. pete loves it...

this is the view from the doctor's house...

the "ship of fools", as they call the house
david, pete, and another artist that Sr. V. invited

We're heading to wine country next...

Every time I look at your pics I feel myself pulling a Liz Lemon mumbling to myself "I want to go to there." That house is amazing!
