sweet mom

We had a great time with my mom this past week. One of the best things about having guests is getting back into 'tourist' mode for awhile. It's so easy to just go to the same places, once you get comfortable and a place feels like home. Her visit was a nice mix of showing her our favorite spots and also exploring new places in the city. I also discovered that my mother owns about 30,000 different white shirts, which were her uniform of choice while she was here.

Our taxi got a flat tire on the way home from the airport. My mom didn't seem to be phased by the hundreds of cars whizzing past us as we stood on the side of the highway.

At Standard, one of our favorite restaurants in Palermo Hollywood. Sergio, the bartender, invented special drinks for us (he doesn't allow me to get the same one every time, which is what I usually do when I find something I like).
These rubber trees are over 200 years old.

Here is my Mom humoring us with a "funny shot" before heading to La Boca, where all the painted corrugated tin houses are.

Some people do fancy tango moves...we just stand around

As if accidentally dressing like twins wasn't enough, we decided to look even more American with our Starbucks cups.
This is Cafe Richmond on la calle Florida. My dad and his family used to get really dressed up on Sundays and go there for British teatime.

These are the "Peace Bears" that are touring the world right now. Each country painted their own bear.
We also went to Colonia, in Uruguay, which is this tiny little city full of antique cars and amazing old buildings.

Lunch in Colonia (and yet another white shirt)
On her last day here, we went to the Japanese garden. There is a man made pond that is FULL of enormous goldfish.
my mom needs to work on her fish face...

Ohhhhh, your mom is as lovely as ever! Every time I see "visit" pics I get jealous!

BTW, you are looking very chic these days. That casual Argentine style fits you well :)
