As I said in a previous post, my Dad just climbed the Lanin volcano for the second time. I can't describe how proud I am to have a father that constantly challenges himself. He climbed it with one of his childhood friends who we call Pony (a nickname that is actually spelled Bunny, go figure). For some reason, David, Pete, and I started the tradition of doing a toast every time Pony's name came up. Needless to say, when he heard about this he was thrilled.
After the climb and after finishing his sculpture in San Martín, Papá came back to BsAs and his friends had another asado to see him off. Pete and I were amazed at all these 60 year old men, who could party from 1pm to 1am (literally). Pete and I went inside my Dad's friend's house and took a nap in the middle of it.
We saw Papá off at the airport today and I am already missing him :( Por suerte, my mom arrives tomorrow!
Here are some photographs my Dad took of the climb:

this is the refuge that they slept in after the first day's climb. you then get up at 3am and start hiking to the top at 4am.

click on this picture to make it larger and see the scale. there are tiny people on the mountainside.

instead of doing a freestanding sculpture, my Dad elected to carve a design into the rock, symbolizing the water mill in the background. the town is making a park here to celebrate alternative forms of energy (i.e. water turbines).
