While Pete's parents and sister were here, we took a trip out to an Estancia in Los Cardales. There was horseback riding, a beautiful museum that had originally been the house, and a huge asado at the end of the day.
After the asado, there was a demonstration of "gaucho skills", which though completely contrived, was very impressive. The picture below shows two guys galloping at full speed and using a small stick to remove a tiny ring hanging from the horizontal beam you see. If you click on the picture and zoom in, you can see how skillful they need to be in order to do this. They then give the ring to one of the lucky female onlookers. I pretty much swooned when I got a ring from the big grandfatherly one (on the right in this photo).
